Ingredients
- 500 g Plain flour (Plain flour for pastry)
- 250 g Butter (Butter, diced and chilled)
- 5 g Salt (Salt for pastry)
- 175 ml Water (Cold water for pastry)
- 450 g Minced beef (Skirt steak (beef), finely diced)
- 450 g Potato (Potato, peeled and diced)
- 200 g brown onion (Brown onion, finely chopped)
- 150 g white cabbage (White cabbage, finely shredded)
- 5 g Salt (Salt for filling)
- 3 g Black pepper (Freshly ground black pepper)
- 1 piece Eggs (Egg, beaten for glaze)

Instructions

Make the pastry: In a bowl, rub the flour, butter, and salt together until it resembles breadcrumbs. Gradually add cold water and mix until a dough forms. Wrap in cling film and chill for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the filling: Dice the beef, potato, onion, and cabbage. Mix together in a bowl with salt and pepper.

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Roll out pastry on a floured surface to about 5mm thick. Cut out circles approximately 20cm in diameter.

Place filling onto one half of each pastry circle. Dampen the edge with water, fold over, and crimp edges to seal.

Brush the pasties with beaten egg (or vegan alternative).

Place on a baking tray and bake in the oven for 50-60 minutes until golden brown.

Allow to cool slightly before serving.
