Cheesy Mushroom Casserole - Turkish Appetizer

  • 400 g Mushroom
  • 0.5 piece Onion
  • 1 piece Green bell pepper
  • 1 piece Red bell pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt (a pinch)
  • 0.25 tsp Granulated sugar (a pinch)
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese (grated)
    Alternative: Mozzarella

Optional

  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
    Alternative: Sunflower oil

Instructions

  1. Slice the mushrooms thinly. In a pan, sauté the mushrooms until all their liquid has evaporated completely. This is the key to preventing a watery dish.

  2. Add a little oil to the pan along with the chopped onions, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper. Continue to sauté until the vegetables are tender.

  3. Season the mixture with salt and a pinch of sugar, then transfer it into small casserole or gratin dishes.

  4. Top each dish with a generous layer of grated Kashar (or any melting cheese like mozzarella).

  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.
