Donuts - American Desserts

Ingredients

  • 250 g All-purpose flour
  • 30 g Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 60 ml Vegetable oil
  • 120 ml Water (Warm)
  • 5 g dried yeast
  • 50 g Granulated sugar (For coating)
  • 2 tbsp Cinnamon (For coating)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm water and yeast. Let it rest for 5 minutes.

  2. Add the flour, sugar and oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.

  5. Roll out the dough to about 1 cm thickness.

  6. Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or two different sized round cookie cutters.

  7. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot over medium heat.

  8. Fry the donuts for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.

  9. Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  10. In a bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon.

  11. Coat the donuts in the cinnamon sugar mixture while they are still warm. Serve immediately.
